College football picks, games, odds for Week 3: Notre Dame, Miami, UCLA on upset alert

After a quick start to the season, in the third week, some of the best teams will face superior rivals. While there is some intrigue as to whether Florida’s No. 11 can stay within two points against Alabama’s No. 1, or to what extent Oklahoma No. 3 will boost against Nebraska, the weekend’s most intriguing matches remain on the list.

The pre-season perception is starting to change, but Vegas still isn’t immune. The three games on my alert list are the top 25 preseason AP teams that did nothing to maintain their rankings. This includes a couple of ranked teams that could have easily played 0-2 if not for some exceptional luck.

If the first two weeks college football the season has taught us everything, just expect the unexpected. I mean, for heaven’s sake, eight teams, including three Power Five teams, lost to FCS rivals in one of the wackiest starts of the season in recent memory.

Each week, I will bring to your attention some of the weekend’s most underrated matches, both for your enjoyment and perhaps financially. Without further ado, here are five matches that can be frustrating.

Important disclaimer: “upset” is determined primarily by odds, not rating.

When: Saturday 12 pm ET | Where: Miami Gardens, Florida

Featured game | Miami (FL) Hurricanes vs. Michigan State Spartans

Why is it indicated: Hurricanes remain in polls solely because of their high preseason ratings. With a loss to Labam and 25-23 more carnations Appalachian, their resume is not impressive. Michigan defeats reigning champion Big Ten West Northwestern and Youngstown State for several weeks in a row, but Saturday is his first true test.

Michigan State Key to the game: On the way back Kenneth Walker III has been a revelation since the transition from Wake forest, races 321 yards and five touchdowns with just 30 carries in the first two games. Miami has a strong defense and competes adequately with strong games in the App State and Alabama. If Walker can cause any trouble – especially if he can get some explosive runs – it will open up the game dramatically for the quarterback. Payton Thorne

Miami Key to the Game: The Hurricanes have scored only three offensive touchdowns, while they have settled for field goals within the opposition’s 30-yard line five times. The only landing attempt in less than 90 seconds was an interception on the 6-yard line of the App State. We all heard off-season as the translator Charleston Rambo could provide a much needed threat to weak points. U need to score some explosive points to make the game easier. The first two games were exhausting.

Choose: For the first two weeks of the year, the Spartans were not seriously tested, so it is difficult to say exactly what the growth potential will be in the third week. However, the two teams are moving in the opposite direction. Michigan may not be good enough to handle the trouble yet, but the Spartans are certainly good enough to keep the game close. ATS: Michigan, SU: Miami

When: 12pm ET | Where: Morgantown, West Virginia

Featured game | West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Virginia Tech Hokies

Why is it indicated: This is a good example of how disorders are defined strictly by books rather than ratings. WVU lost its only match against an opponent from the Power Five. Hawks win rating North Carolina

Virginia Tech Key to the game: To win, Virginia Tech only needs to do what they do best: play disciplined football. This means avoiding fines, turnover, and staying true to the task at hand. Three interceptions with pressure and positioning were decisive factors for the victory over Sam Howell and North Carolina. Against a much worse team, these concepts should remain true.

West Virginia game keys: If West Virginia plays the VT ball control and fitness game, the climbers will lose. The only way to answer is to get the Hokies out of schedule, and the best way for WVU to do this is with fast short passes. Although climbers have their own troubles, Jarrett Doge, Ladydie Brown and the receiver body must dictate the conditions of the game.

Choose: West Virginia has tons of offensive questions, and Virginia Tech is the perfect team to take advantage of this. It makes no sense to give preference to climbers in the first place. Virginia Institute of Technology takes this game pretty easily. ATS: Virginia Institute of Technology, SU: Virginia Institute of Technology

When: 4:15 pm ET | Where: Seattle, Washington

Featured game | Washington Husky vs. Arkansas Red Wolves

Why is it indicated: To close the line against Arkansas, Washington must win by 17 points. Oddly enough, the husky scored 17 points. total points in two games. Arkansas will ditch glasses, but can Washington really take advantage of this?

Arkansas State Key to the game: The Red Wolves scored 90 points in their first two weeks, building on a rare but successful system of two quarterbacks with Lane Hatcher and transfer from the former USSR James Blackman… This pair totaled 901 yards in general attack, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions. Arkansas State must attack from the field early and often.

Washington key to the game: Is it rude to ask UW to do something useful in offending? Huskies averaged 1.9 yards per carry, 4.5 yards per game and hit the ball four times. Arkansas gave up 417 yards and five touchdowns to Memphis QB Seth Henigan last week a few people Calvin Austin IIIso relying on passing play and trying to outplay an Arkansas State athlete might be a move?

Choose: Nothing makes us believe that Washington can clear 17 points offensively, let alone come up 17 points ahead in one of the most dynamic attacks in football. Washington maybe wins this game, but the Red Wolves keep up the competition. ATS: State of Arkansas, SU: Washington

When: 2:30 pm ET | Where: South Bend, Indiana

Featured game | Notre Dame fights Irish against Purdue Boilermakers

Why is it indicated: Don’t look now, the start of the Notre Dame season was as nightmare as a 2-0 start could be. Fighting Irish took overtime to beat State of florida a team that turned around and quickly lost to Jacksonville State and then needed a late TD from Jack Coan survive Toledo… Purdue is unsubstantiated, but is still the best team Notre Dame has faced. This is not encouraging.

Purdue Key to the game: Boilermakers lost top rusher Zander Horvat to a broken fibula, but failure could be a blessing in disguise. Over the past two seasons, Plummer has discreetly completed 72% of his passes for 1,496 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions in just five games. If Plummer manages to avoid mistakes, it will open up the game on the run against Notre Dame’s porous front.

Notre Dame game key: Purdue had inconsistent ball control, averaging just 3.7 yards per carry, and had eight tackles per game. This could be some kind of game for the good of the Notre Dame front. If a talented defensive line can find themselves and let the midfielders do their part as cover, it will make life harder for Purdue.

Choose: Notre Dame played with fire and it will eventually burn out. Against a heavily underrated quarterback and creative offensive head coach, this could be a week. The only thing that worries me? Vegas might be in Notre Dame too. I would be more comfortable with a two-digit line ATS: Purdue, SU: Purdue

When: 22:45 ET | Where: Pasadena, California

Featured game | UCLA vs. Fresno State Bulldogs

Why is it indicated: The Bruins won an impressive victory over LSU start the year and easily entered the top 25 AP as a result. But on the other hand, it’s the Fresno State team that hasn’t been intimidated. Oregonin the first week and kept the game close to my heart. Could UCLA find itself discouraged after an emotional victory?

Fresno State game keys: UCLA relied on its ground play, controlling more than 70% of its possessions. Because of this, UCLA’s unscheduled schedule is critical to the state of Fresno. Four of the Bruins’ six successful attacks against UCLA began with 12-yard runs.

UCLA game keys: UCLA should pay attention to Oregon’s game plan. Fresno State had incredible passing successes, but three penalties ultimately doomed the Bulldogs’ poor bet. Despite having scored 91 times in his first three games, Fresno’s talented quarterback Jake Hener have not taken off yet. Positioning for a turnaround would quickly keep the USSR at bay.

Choose: Seeing the crush of Oregon Ohio State On the road, Fresno needs to be confident that it can physically compete with UCLA. The Bruins must be careful not to overlook this highly experienced Bulldogs team, as Oregon did. ATS: Fresno State, SU: UCLA
