Laces Out: Florida has a quarterback conundrum, Michigan and Arkansas find success going old school

College football never fails to satisfy. If an early series of upsets and unexpected storylines this season are any indication, the next three months will be an exciting journey to the finish line that defines the four teams for college football’s playoffs.

Laces Out will distract visitors from the main storytelling and discuss interesting topics elsewhere as we walk you with us every week for some sort of 2-minute exercise. We’ll look at what we know and look to the future when the rest of the season ends.

Now that we have a couple of games to rate those in the top 25 or so, and conclusions that are starting to develop for most programs, let’s reboot ahead of the crucial Saturday at the start of the season in week three.

Florida Coach Dan Mullen sees what we see and is certainly entitled to pick the right quarterback for his system given his career track record, but after two games this season. Anthony Richardson – the “understudy” of the freshman in the red shirt, which caused a lot of noise during the fall camp – clearly outplayed the young starter in the red shirt. Emory Jones… Both will play Saturday at the SEC’s opening as the No. 11 Gators host. AlabamaMullen says while Richardson can do this week with hamstring soreness.

You need to monitor the rotation as early as possible. Jones has made four interceptions so far in victories over FAU and South florida, each of them arrives by telegraph and passes without interrupting their primary reading. What up to Richardson? There he is less predictable, and in the last time-out he showed almost perfect performance: 3 out of 3 in the air, 152 yards and 2 points, adding 115 yards to the snatch and landing on the ground. In a limited number of shots this season, Richardson has played 467 yards on a total attack with half a dozen explosive games – the kind of impulsive players Florida needs to beat Alabama.

Alabama coach Nick Saban will prepare his defense for both Florida quarterbacks, but Richardson is a dynamic option that is quickly becoming the next Gators superstar in that position.

Sam Pittman’s not-so-secret weapon

Barry Odom, locked in the 2023 season, is the highest paid assistant in Arkansas the history of football … and he earns every cent of his contract given his overall program value. Odom once again confused the talented offense with the mastermind’s game plan in Razorbacks 40-21 above the then-ranked. Texas… For most of the first half, Arkansas threw in three and lost eight in coverage, holding the Longhorns QB back. The Horns played 23 games in the first half; 11 went with no gain or loss of footage. Texas has overcome 50 times in the first two quarters and managed to make the first three falls. It was a manic performance by Odom’s group against one of the country’s brightest offensive minds, coach Steve Sargsyan.

This veteran-armed defense of Arkansas is the same unit that was one step ahead of Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss last fall, forcing QB Matt Corral career-worst interception with six interceptions. Odom knows what he is doing on this side of football, and this fall he is giving No. 20 Pointed Noses the chance to do something special.

Michigan star thirsts for blood

Remember the guys from “Little Giants” who used Alka-Seltzer as a deterrent on the line of battle? Wolverine has a future pick in the first round. Aidan Hutchinson whose menacing roar would make even Spike proud. He doesn’t need carbonated drinks.

Best Hutchinson Tape on Winning Michigan Washington this one producer intends to cut throughout the season. On one game in the second quarter, he wrapped Husky RB. Richard Newton behind the scrum line with suplex-like cotton. The soccer ball splattered even before Newton collapsed on the lawn after the soccer ball in Michigan. Brad Hawkins knocked it out.

The script was reminiscent of a mafia boss shooting for free at an opponent whose hands were shackled behind his back. This is how it felt over the weekend watching Wolverines # 25 beat # 18. Wisconsin October 2 is moving away from the ideal first half of the season.

The action takes place in Happy Valley

Looking for a goosebump background? Tune in to No. 22 Chestnut under No. 10 Penn state, a match of undefeated players of national rating under the light at Beaver Stadium. The setting should be magical for the Nittany Lions, with organizers expecting a full house to be presented with white T-shirts. Auburn scored 121 points against two morgue defenses. Now about the noise level of Tigers QB Bo Nix will experience during the opening of the possession of a suitable fighter jet level of volume. This will be a pretty big adjustment.

Hurricanes # 24 hang by a thread inside college football ratings after their little run against Appalachian which followed the defeat in Alabama in the first week. Miami now plays host to undefeated Michigan State with Cane favorites with 6.5 points. I have a feeling the Spartans will play sharply here, given the healthy football we’ve seen so far under sophomore coach Mel Tucker and Miami’s inability to find its rhythm but offensively.

Watch out for Miami’s fast-paced attack after losing Don Cheney Jr. to a knee injury last time. Kam’Ron Harris will be prompted to take on the load. Only Clemson so far, both the team has raced into the ACC, and Michigan is trying to hang its hat on the ferocity on the line of scrimmage.

We saw five national teams fall in the second week and this is a dangerous spot for Cane.
