The 2023 World Baseball Classic is in the knockout stages, with the quarterfinal game between Team USA and Venezuela scheduled for Saturday night. The United States are trying to become the last team to reach the semifinals. Cuba awaits the winner USA-Venezuela while Japan and Mexico meet on Monday night. Mexico defeated Puerto Rico in another WBC excitement on Friday night. The championship game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21 in Miami.
This version of the WBC was originally scheduled to be played in 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The action started on Wednesday, March 8 (the 2023 WBC Taiwan opener’s technically first pitch was on March 7 at 11:00pm ET) and there will be 47 games in total.
