Team USA is attempting to defend its World Baseball Classic title this week in the 2023 version of the event, six years after it first won the international baseball crown. Mike Trout, Trea Turner, Mookie Betts, Nolan Arenado and Adam Wainwright are among USA Baseball’s star-studded roster, which opened the weekend’s game by beating Great Britain. The Americans slipped in group play against Mexico but rallied to throttle Canada and can now progress to the quarter-finals with a win over Colombia on Wednesday.
Team USA entered the tournament with the second best odds to win the 2023 World Baseball Classic, behind only the Dominican Republic, according to Caesars Sportsbook. The US defeated Puerto Rico to win the 2017 championship.
