Underdogs ruled the NFL in Week 1, but will the trend continue? Plus, Packers plummet in latest power rankings

Hello sports fanatics, Shanna McCarriston is here to bring you all the news of the day. Let’s get ready to start Wednesday by asking what is your biggest overreaction to Nfl the season is so far away? Let me know on Twitter what do you think. Will it Accounts will eventually fight? Are Browns an AFC team to beat? (I will answer yes to that question.) Whatever you are thinking, based on just one week in the NFL, let me know.

Today we will discuss a few things in the NFL, as well as talk about the results of the Champions League and some others. Nba news while we’re at it.

Let’s start.

📰 What you need to know

1. NFL strength rating: Packers plumb line 🏈

One thing about the NFL: it’s full of surprises. That was true this week as we have witnessed some of the biggest losers wins in over three decades (we’ll take a closer look at this later in this newsletter).

It means power rating did we have last week? Yes they all shook it up

We looked at Pete Prisco’s strength rating ahead of the season, and I told you that if he was wrong, don’t be too hard on him. Well I hope you remember that because five of his top 10 teams lost, including two in the top five

V Buffalo Billswho entered the first week in our second place, fell on Pittsburgh Steelers at home. Green bay, What can I say? The team did not seem to show up much in huge loss New Orleans Saints and Aaron Rogers did not look like himself. Let’s try not to overreact, but since every win in the league is so valuable, we can’t completely ignore this amazing week.

Here is the pinnacle of Prisco’s new power rating.and the number of seats each team has moved up or down to:

  • No. 1: Pirates, did not move
  • No. 2: Bosses, climbed one
  • No. 3: 49ers, went up three
  • No. 4: Baranov, went up by four
  • No. 5: Cardinals, went up by four
  • # 6: Saints, climbed 13
  • # 7: Steelers, climbed 14
  • No. 8: Seahawks, went up 10
  • # 9: Bills Moved Seven Down
  • # 10: Packers Down Six Positions

As I said, there was a big shake-up this week. For full ratings and comments, Click here

The Packers still have Rogers, but they need to seriously bounce back to convince me that they will remain rivals. I can see that the Bills have an easier time recovering from their loss than the Packers.

Meanwhile, the Browns dropped seven spots despite nearly defeating the Chiefs at Arrowhead. Prisco explained that this is because they need to learn how to win big games. It’s tough love, but hey, we’re talking about the NFL.

2. Champions League: results of the first day of the game ⚽

V first Champions League matches left behind and, wow, how fun it was the first day. Chelsea, reigning champions, beat Zenit St. Petersburg 1: 0 in a bitter battle. Meanwhile, Manchester United suffered stunning Lose 2: 1 Young Boys in Bern.

Sevilla vs Salzburg there was one to see the ending 1-1, but Villarreal vs Atalanta was even more competitive. This game ended 2-2 as both teams took the lead.

For best performer of the day, we give it Robert Lewandowski. He scored his 74th and 75th Champions League goals v Bayern – win 3-0 over Barcelona.

Here complete results from the first day of the UCL:

  • Seville 1, Salzburg 1
  • Young Boys 1, Manchester United 2
  • Barcelona 0, Bayern Munich 3
  • Dynamo Kiev 0, Benfica 0
  • Villarreal 2, Atalanta 2
  • LOSC 0, Wolfsburg 0
  • Chelsea 1, Zenit 0

3. Week 1 for the NFL outsiders has been a success story

Everyone loves the stories of losers, and there were a lot of them in the first week of NFL history. In fact, in the first week we witnessed some of the biggest wins in the NFL in 38 years.

The outsiders had record wins 9-7 for for the first time since 1983

Here week 1 outsider winners list:

Besides, Cleveland Browns, Dallas cowboys and Detroit Lions – all outsiders – covered their spreadsdespite all three losses.

V The Steelers, 23-16 years old, was the biggest of all these griefs.since Pittsburgh has lost 6.5 points in most of the major sports publications.

The Outsider Week ends with a spectacular victory for the Raiders, how Las Vegas won Crows overtime, 33-27. That ended a historic week, and it will be successful if you are a gambler who loves to invest in losers.

Will this trend continue? We will be back to continue this conversation tomorrow and discuss the results of the second week.

4. Trade rumors about Damian Lillard created fake Blazers 🏀

Hot takes are called hot takes for a reason, and the whole point is that not everyone will agree with this. It is known that sports enthusiasts are fond of sports, so sometimes hot moves are far away.

That’s all it takes for me discuss Damian Lillard’s trade rumors around speculation that the Portland Trail Blazers are not a champion team… Some have forgotten that while Portland may not be an upper class contender, they have a chance to enter the top 4 seed at their conference… It’s not so bad.

Here’s a breakdown of what Trail Blazers work with., from ups to downs:

  • They brought Robert Covington and Derrick Jones Jr. last year, but they didn’t have as much impact on Lillard’s defense as expected. In short, the crime ended with Jones on the court.
  • Larry Nance Jr. similar to Jones, but he is likely to create additional holdings. Nancy also gives the Blazers more choices.
  • They return Norman Powell
  • V Duo Lillard-C. Jay McCollum still one of the best in the league

Last year, the starting line-up put up 14.2 points per 100 possessions… It was ranks second only Philadelphia starters among squads with at least 700 minutes of playing time. The team already has several robust options in this bulleted list above, with problems that can be addressed.

Speaking of Philadelphia, CBS Sports’ own Brad Botkin says they should still be looking at CJ McCollum deal – especially if Ben Simmons available for realistic package. But besides trading, you know what makes Portland dangerous, especially in the big games? Lillard!

  • Botkin: “The Blazers’ best hit in the off-plan and deep postseason race remains Lillard’s pursuit of nuclear weapons. It has always been this way “

But none of us is in Lillard’s head, and it will be interesting to see how the relationship is developing and what happens in the first few months of the season. But the theory that Trail Blazers need to make major changes to become a contender is simply not true.

🏅 Best I’ve seen on the internet

Today I’m going to mix things up and add some fashion to the newsletter. Fashion and sports go hand in hand more than some think, with pregame clothing and sponsorship deals being an important part of the off-field (or on-court) aspect. With the return of the MET gala on Monday, it seems appropriate to discuss some of the sports-related imagery.

Russell Wilson’s wife Ciara wore a Seahawks sequin dress and a # 3 T-shirt in Russell’s honor. She also kept a dazzled soccer ball and wore a Wilson Super Bowl ring. Sports are really everywhere!
